In honor of the indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication to family exhibited by Maria Angela Bimbela, this scholarship seeks to empower single mothers pursuing higher education, mirroring Maria's own journey as an immigrant from Mexico who courageously raised four children as a housekeeper following the loss of her husband. Although Maria did not have the opportunity to pursue higher education herself, she passionately advocated for the transformative power of learning and the pursuit of academic excellence.

The 2024 Maria Angela Bimbela Family Scholarship aims to support single mothers who embody Maria's resilience, perseverance, and commitment to education. This scholarship is intended for individuals who demonstrate financial need and face challenges in their academic pursuits, echoing Maria's own experiences and triumphs.

Eligible applicants for the Maria Angela Bimbela Family Scholarship should be single Hispanic/Latina mothers currently enrolled in a college or university program, with preference given to those who are confronting financial or academic obstacles.
